Chhitij K.C was born in August 11 in the ancient city of Patan, Lalitpur, Nepal. With a keen interest in music from his early childhood influenced by his mother and sister, Chhitij K.C started learning drums from the age of thirteen with some senior drummers around his society. At 16, he joined Nepal Music School to further his learning of drums and music. Since then, he has been practicing drums around the country alongside many veteran drummers and visiting foreign faculty of the Kathmandu Jazz Conservatory.
In 2015,Chhitij K.C and his fellow drum teacher at that time,Mr. Kiran Shahi (from the bands Jindabaad, Realized beings, Mad jazz quartet) opened and taught in a Drum cum Music school called Music Circle. The school provided instructors and classes for Drum, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Piano, Violin, Ear training, Music theory, band combos among many other instruments and techniques. Music Circle, later went on to provide preparation classes for London College of Music(University of West London) till Grade VIII music theory. This was the gate way for musical academics and teaching for Mr Chhitij which he has been carrying on till date (2015 – till now). The school closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and lock down in 2020.
Chhitij has been recording as a freelance drummer with different artists and groups around the country, also playing in gigs and shows from small pubs to huge concerts and events.Chhitij also recently toured to North-East Sikkim, India with his band, Time Dilation which was his international breakthrough/debut. He is also a drum instructor / educator at New Millenium School, Sital Height, Imadole, Lalitpur (June 2022 till now). He is also playing for different artists like Sajjan Raj Vaidya, Yugal Gurung, Brihat Pahari, to name a quite few. Chhitij actively has been a part of different drum related shows in the country as a performer and organizer like Drummers Circle and Drum Jatra which are yearly drum focused events in Nepal. Chhitij has been working to create shred culture in the drum community by bringing all kinds of drummers under one roof uniting the players.
Chhitij wants to develop as a drummer by studying the greats and blending with the new music that is being created. He strives to be genre-less and provide the given music in his own way.
